FNEI Conservation Progam: Events

Energy Conservation Day is here!
The FNEI Conservation Program Team is hosting an Energy Conservation Day in Kashechewan, Fort Albany and Attawapiskat. We will be in the Northern Stores between 12:00pm and 6:00pm giving away a free 3M Window Insulation Kit to each household. Come by and pick up your free kit, hear about the energy/money-saving benefits of using interior window insulation film – STOPS DRAFTS! STOPS MOISTURE ON WINDOWS! PREVENTS MOLD ON WINDOW FRAMES! – and see how easy it is to install.

We are always interested to hear what your family does to save energy. Tell us what you are doing when you come to pick up your free Window Insulation Kit and be sure to ask us what we are planning for the next Energy Conservation Day!

Visit us in the communities on the following days, and click on the community name to download a brochure:
Kashechewan – October 25th at the Northern Store between 12:00pm and 6:00pm
Fort Albany – October 26th at the Northern Store between 12:00pm and 6:00pm
Attawapiskat – October 27th at the Northern Store between 12:00pm and 6:00pm

Energy Audits and Retrofits
A major component of this program involves energy audits and retrofits in select homes in your community. The Conservation Program team will be hiring and training individuals from your community to first conduct energy audits and then to provide energy retrofits.
What is an energy audit?
An energy audit is a detailed inspection, survey and analysis of the energy flows in a building. The audit will give us critical information that will help us provide targeted improvements to select homes to reduce energy usage and energy bills. Chief and Council will be responsible for selecting the homes that will be eligible for retrofits in the first year of the conservation program.

FNEI Conservation Program 2012 Calendar
The FNEI Conservation Program team has been working with youth from the three communities to collect drawings that celebrate energy conservation. Colourful drawings will be combined with energy saving tips from community members to create a fun calendar that can be enjoyed by the entire family. The calendar will be available this fall—the Conservation Program will provide one for each household. Check and see if your drawing or tip was included in the calendar!
